Brand. We talk about it a lot in the nonprofit sector

Brand. We talk about it a lot in the nonprofit sector but we’re not sure we know what we’re talking about. Mike Johnston had a chance to sit down with some other forward thinking veterans of the charitable sector to talk, joke, debate and explore what a brand is in our sector. Take a look at the full debate here:

Chalk and Cheese

hjc has been talking about how organizations should take online activists and call convert them to donors. It’s a cross-channel combination that is proving very, very effective. Andrew Bales the Online Director at Amnesty Canada has been building online constituents for a decade. He’s the first to admit it that he doesn’t like the telephone – that is until the last year when it proved extremely valuable. Take a look at his case study and think about how you should combine online and the phone. Read More →

How did you end up a consultant with hjc in Spain?

By chance, I was looking for a new challenge and hjc were looking for a European consultant.

What do you most enjoy about working with international non profits?

I enjoy seeing just how many people all over the world are working to make change and help in different ways.

You´re a Scot living in Spain, working with a Canadian company. Which country do you prefer?

Well, I think I like and hate some things about all three – everyone thinks the weather is great here in Spain, but in fact for 3 long summer months it´s regularly over 100 drgrees – too hot to do much else but lounge by the pool (ok if you don´t have to work but…..). Scotland is where my heart is.

And finally, the most important question – what´s your favourite tapas?

Oh there are so many….gambas al ajillo (garlic prawns) is one and fried calamares another…. I could go on and on!
