The idea of “crowdfunding” has been with us since the dawn of the entrepreneur and then a certain Mr. Alex Tew of Wiltshire, England came along and showed us all how to bring this idea to the digital age. The problem Mr. Tew faced was that he was leaving home for university and was extremely reluctant to join the ranks of all the other poor students loaded with debt. Thus, the Million Dollar Homepage was conceived and, within 6 months, Mr. Tew was a millionaire business student. A simple concept, set up the technology and go out and ask whilst providing your funders with a payback opportunity. The site garnered global attention on various news channels and, at its peak, was receiving over 25,000 unique visitors per hour. Not a bad pay-off for those funders. Read More →
