This position is designed to develop competences in integrated and digital fundraising as well as exposing the incumbent to the cutting edge of fundraising. The intern is responsible for providing support to the CEO and the consultant team in all aspects of their work. This individual will, under the guidance of more senior staff manage and coordinate fundraising programs for clients and assist in hjc business activities. This position encompasses many aspects of digital and integrated fundraising: from online fundraising, to SMS campaigns, to e-appeals, direct mail, face to face and legacies. This is the rare type of internship that will allow you to bring together many aspects of your Humber learning experiences in one job.

Our clients are global and include a mix or small and large charities. We currently work with organizations such as Amnesty International, UNICEF, SickKids Foundation, TVO, Ontario SPCA, Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House, Covenant House and many more.

General Responsibilities:

This position entails, but is not limited to:

  • Coordinating and/or managing projects with clients and consultants in online and offline direct response fundraising
  • Researching new and relevant trends for clients
  • Learning, and implementation of online fundraising tools
  • Creation of website, webpages, donation forms and other web properties
  • Reporting and data analysis
  • Copywriting for online
  • Some general administrative duties as required

Web Developer

We are looking for a talented web developer with a desire to use their coding skills for good. As part of our team you will deliver outstanding Web applications and solutions to help our non-profit clients be more successful with the use of technologies.  

We are looking for:

  • An individual who can work with our technical leads and project managers to conceptualize and develop innovative customized Web applications and solutions to meet the demands of our nonprofit clients;
  • A self-motivated individual who will enjoy a team-oriented environment where work can be fast-paced and requirements can change frequently;
  • High degree of creativity, sensitivity to user experience design and problem solving ability;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the latest Web service technologies and frameworks, and an on-going desire to learn;
  • Prefer someone with experience developing in an Open Source Content Management System environment (CMS) who can become familiar with various  nonprofit/fundraising platforms (e.g. Artez, Blackbaud, Convio, Engaging Networks, CiviCRM  etc…).

We do not have a specific experience level in mind for this position. We are looking for an individual who will fit our culture. We are a small, innovative and cross-functional team. Your tasks (Responsibilities):

  • Responsible for research and development of Web applications to interact with Web services (SOAP standard, WSDL, XML) and APIs (ReST) for fundraising CMS and CRM platforms;
  • Responsible for coding and implementing websites, micro-sites, Web applications, forms, email, social media, mobile solutions, and other online media;
  • You will implement CMS and CRM systems such as Convio, Blackbaud, Salesforce, CiviCRM, etc…  (training will be available);
  • Research and learn new platforms and technologies relevant to the nonprofit sector to better serve the needs of our nonprofit clients; and
  • Stay abreast of developments in the field of digital.

Skills:

  • Bachelor degree or college diploma in a field related to Web development;
    • Skills in Web development using the followings:
    • ASP.Net (C#/VB)
    • PHP
    • HTML/DHTML/XML/CSS
    • JavaScript (jQuery, AJAX)
  • Good knowledge of JavaScript (jQuery, AJAX) programming;
  • Experience with SQL and MySQL programming;
  • Knowledge of Web services (SOAP standard & WSDL) and ability to research and develop Web applications;
  • Ability to develop in popular development environments, including PHP, Java, and MS Visual Studio;
  • Possess skills in Object Oriented ASP.Net (C#/VB) development;
  • Knowledge about Open API (ReST style) and implementation of standalone applications such as data integration agents;
  • Must be able to code sites manually without the use of a WYSIWYG editor;
  • Ability to communicate complex technical details to a non-technical audience and willing to teach and to learn;
  • Good communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills;
  • Analytical, self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized.

Preferred Skills:

  • CSS3, HTML5, mobile website and application development;
  • Adobe CS Suite applications: Dreamweaver, Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks;
  • Experience with implementation of custom programming of Google Analytics.

Our involvement ranges from concept development, design, copy writing to site build. Your role would be to advise on best practice fundraising strategy for online tools tool configuration, project management of the creative production of the site and to facilitate manipulating non-profit software for the site build.

We are looking for an individual who is planning or has begun a long-term career in fundraising and who is passionate about the online world and technology. The successful candidate excels as a project manager and has experience with project management techniques and tools. A fast learner, with a desire to develop new skills - the individual will be exposed to new techniques and technologies. Necessary qualities for this position include excellent time management skills, the ability to multi-task and a tolerance for a fast paced environment. A focus on customer benefit - to excel at providing benefit to internal and external parties is essential.

General Responsibilities

This position entails, but is not limited to:

  • Leads the strategy, concept development and execution of web tools such as websites, microsites, campaign forms etc.
  • Liaises with internal stakeholders to consult on online tool best practices.
  • Develops and maintains a network of vendors, technology providers and agencies to assist and implement campaigns and projects.
  • Manipulates technology platforms for day-to-day program management of client accounts (however this role does not involve web development)
  • Implements technology platforms for clients migrating or purchasing new software
  • Liaises with internal stakeholders to consult on best practice usage of various technology platforms
  • Pull reports from various technology platforms, on an ongoing basis
  • Keeps up to date with developments in the software and technology industry
  • Researches and writes reports and comparisons on software platforms
  • Develop expertise on a range of non profit online fundraising software such as Convio, Engaging Networks, Unxvision, Artez, Salesforce etc.
  • Advocates e-philanthropy to management, executive, and broader nonprofit organizations.
  • Establish self as functional expert with solid understanding of best practices, quality objectives, and project needs for online campaigns.
  • Provide deliverables in a timely manner as appropriate for program initiatives and internal objectives.
