Calling All Fundraisers: What Do You ‘Aspire To…’?

Calling All Fundraisers: What Do You ‘Aspire To…’?

Conferences are exciting! You get to catch up with your peers, do some networking, and even learn a thing or two. At hjc, we’re always attending to conferences to stay on top of emerging trends, be reminded of the basics, and connect with our friends in the sector.

Up next is the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Toronto Fundraising Day 2013.  It’s held on June 5 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre. This is the best one-day professional development opportunity that our sector has to offer.

5 Things We’re Excited About for Fundraising Day 2013

1.       The “Aspire To…” Tagline

It’s inspiring! Fundraising Day is all about you and what you strive to accomplish as a fundraising professional. It’s definitely got us thinking about our aspirations as we continue our work in leadership and innovation for the non-profit sector

2.       Networking 101 Breakfast, with special orientation for Fundraising Day newcomers

If you’re looking to kick start your networking, or are attending the conference for the first time, the Networking 101 Breakfast is a must-do!

3.       Luncheon plenary speaker Terry O’Reilly , host of CBC Radio’s ‘Under the Influence’

Terry is an award-winning advertiser and broadcaster who will share his thoughts on the use of marketing to influence perceptions, behaviour and how to change the conversation—a plenary not to be missed!

4.       Announcement of the 2013 New Fundraising Professional Award

It’s always encouraging to share in the success of individuals committed to a career in our sector.

5.       Fundraising Day After Party reception onsite immediately following the conference

What could be better than an on-site reception? Practice those networking skills and share laughs with speakers, peers, the AFP staff and Fundraising Day management team.

The good news is that there is still time to register. Visit the Fundraising Day website for more information. Then, whether you plan on live-tweeting from a session or want to share this event with the Twitterverse, use the #FRDay13 hashtag and mention @afptoronto.

Remember, AFP members get a discounted rate on conference registration—and being an AFP member  has other benefits. Not only do you get to stay on top of new fundraising information, but you can also build your network, join the mentor program, or volunteer for your local chapter.

Hope to see you on June 5!
