Donation form shake-up

Donation form shake-up

Donation forms. Let’s face it, they can be boring. They can leave the donor frustrated, uninspired, disenchanted.  But with more and more flexible technologies, your imagination is the limit and there is no excuse for boring donation forms anymore! That’s why we had so much fun working on these two fun donation forms for Humane Society International this holiday season.

Donation form 1 – Street Dog Defenders:

HSI works globally to protect street dogs. They raise funds for their important spay/neuter, vaccination and education programs through their Street Dog Defender monthly giving program. hjc worked with HSI to develop a new donation form for the program this holiday season. Check it out here.

Innovations & Best Practices:
We wanted to do two things with this form. Make it fun and engaging for the user! The monthly gift slider does just that, helping to bring their monthly gift to life and showing the exact impact of their donations. The monthly donor counter gives a sense of community, showing the donor that they are part of a global movement to defend street dogs.

Results:
HSI saw breakthrough results for an email only monthly donor acquisition campaign. You can see from the counter that in a year and a half of promoting the campaign, they have recruited 811 Street Dog Defenders!

Donation form 2 – Humane Gifts

HSI has run its symbolic giving program, Humane Gifts, since 2009. They were seeing a decline in donations each year. We thought this was partly due to the cumbersome process to give and the many steps the donor needed to take to get to checkout. So we decided to pare down the program and make it as simple and fun as possible for the donor to give. Check out the form here.

Innovations & Best Practices:
We created a custom shopping cart feature that allowed the donor to fill their shopping cart with multiple gifts. The donation amount was then passed through to a donation form which in turn linked to an eCard platform.

We reduced the number of gifts offered through Humane Gifts to just 9. This allowed HSI to have a one page donation form. We also enabled the donor to choose their own gift amount. Using a mix of Engaging Networks and Convio donation forms we were able to offer Humane Gifts in 4 currencies.

Results:
HSI saw the best result for 2 years for Humane Gifts on this new donation form. The “Help All Animals’ gift was by far the best performing gift, and had a great average gift. Donors seemed to appreciate the simplified platform and the interactive way to give.
