hjc invites qualified individuals to apply for the position of Digital Services Consultant. The position will be based remotely on the west Coast (within the Pacific time zone) of the United States or Canada.

As a consultant to strategic services, this role is responsible for providing digital marketing and fundraising guidance for hjc clients. This is a multi-dimensional role within a full-service agency specializing in digital marketing and fundraising for non-profits. This role is required to have a strong understanding of organizational best practice and an integrated approach to fundraising.

The consultant provides leadership and excellence on all strategic projects, specifically specializing on:

  • Analytics
  • Online marketing or fundraising
  • Project Management
  • Customer Facing
  • Client Relationship Management

Other projects may be developed as part of this position. This position works closely with senior leadership at hjc.

Responsibilities:

This position entails, but is not limited to:

  • Managing ongoing relationships with clients
  • Working with creative team on innovative solutions to client needs
  • Analyzing and assessing client strategic plans, communication pieces and calendars, online marketing, etc.
  • Developing campaigns and recommended budgets
  • Developing thoughtful and informed strategies
  • Staying up to date on industry trends for fundraising and organizational management
  • Ensuring all work is executed to the highest level of quality – on time and on budget
  • Developing and maintaining strong client confidence, rapport and relationships

Qualifications:

Skill Requirements

  • Industry knowledge and leadership in the sector on fundraising best practices
  • Experience with Luminate Online and/or other digital fundraising platforms like Classy, Rallybound, Engaging Networks, etc.
  • Strong client relation skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Strong online marketing knowledge (social media, online marketing/PR, content development, video production, email)
  • Strong analytics skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Superb team building skills and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Project and team leadership skills (from concept to post-campaign analysis)
  • High organizational capacity and ability to manage client expectations
  • Must be a regular and comfortable user of the internet, online social networks
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience in Direct Response or Multi-Channel marketing an asset

Experience and Education

  • University degree or higher
  • 1-3 years’ work experience in client management and non-profit strategy
  • Digital marketing and/or fundraising experience

This position is designed to develop competencies in integrated and digital fundraising as well as exposing the incumbent to the cutting edge of fundraising.

If hired, you will be responsible for providing integral support to the digital marketing team in all aspects of their work. Under the guidance of digital marketing staff, you will help manage and coordinate digital marketing campaigns for clients and assist in hjc business activities.

Responsibilities

Your day to day will include a healthy combination of:

  • Overseeing copy and editing (You can create and identify a compelling story);
  • Coordinating and driving (leading) projects with clients and consultants in online and offline direct response fundraising (You’re going to have a bunch of deadlines for a bunch of people, and will be responsible for making that work);
  • Actively pursuing solutions to the challenges that are bound to arise in the digital environment (You are a self motivated marketing professional who stays curious);
  • Navigating and executing ad campaigns within multiple ad platforms (You know your way around places like Facebook Business Manager, Google Analytics and Adwords);
  • Researching new and relevant trends for clients as needs arise (We want you to be a nerd who truly enjoys learning what’s new on the internet tomorrow and the next day);
  • Post-campaign reporting and data analysis (Can you make numbers tell an interesting story?);
  • Assistance with digital marketing campaigns – from ideation, to pitch, to execution, to analysis (You’re not scared to speak your mind and come up with new ideas)

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years experience writing HTML, CSS and Javascript/jQuery or equivalent educational experience
  • Deep understanding of responsive design and the differences between mobile/desktop browsers
  • Prior experience developing code for emails and an understanding of the channel’s capabilities/limitations
  • Proficiency in software such as Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator (Adobe Creative Suite)
  • Experience in Luminate Online an asset (CMS, Donation Management, Email Management, TeamRaiser)
  • Experience with other content/email management systems
  • Experience with search engine marketing, display advertising, social media an asset
  • Good communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Analytical, self-motivated, detail-oriented and organized
  • A self-motivated individual who will enjoy a team-oriented environment where work can be fast-paced and requirements can change frequently
  • Ability to evolve and stay current on modern trends in web development
